Friends of Living and Learning Through Loss

The pain of loss has no age limits. Grief and loss is a part of life but for youth, it can be devastating. We know that mismanaged and unexpressed grief can resurface later as unregulated anger, take root as depression and fuel a desire to self-medicate. Youth who are supported during grief and loss report lower depression, and are less likely to experience prolonged complicated grief going forward. Friends of Living and Learning Through Loss supports youth between the ages of 13-24 and their families through education and targeted support programs.

1. Friends of Living and Learning Through Loss have been quietly supporting youth in the greater Victoria area for over 26 years. Your support can help us support more youth and help those who care for them learn how to support youth through loss. .
2. We provide professional grief counselling, education and workshops and intensive programs to support youth through healthy coping strategies at no cost to them to ensure no barriers.
3. We also help families learn practical tools and effective coping strategies to help their bereaved youth.

We envision a community where all youth, and those that support them, have access to education, support, and resources relating to grief, loss and healthy strategies for healing.

Learning Through Loss (LTL) designs and delivers grief education and loss support programs to youth, and provides training to other youth-serving organizations and community to increase capacity and well being through grief, loss and bereavement.
