We made it! Summer is finally so close we can taste it!  We’re rounding up some of the Victoria and Vancouver Island fundraisers and events that you won’t want to miss this May.

What’s the best way to kick off the summer, you ask? We think that attending any of the following events happening this month in Victoria and on Vancouver Island is a pretty good way:

BC Cancer Foundation’s “Workout to Conquer Cancer”

Tuesday, May 1st – Thursday, May 31st @ All of British Columbia

Whether you run, walk, bike, hike, box, stretch, or dance, Workout to Conquer Cancer presented by RYU Apparel challenges you to get moving every day for the month of May. Join hundreds of British Columbians and break a sweat while fundraising in support of critical cancer research and enhancements to care at BC Cancer. The Dahlia Society Presents “Canstruction”

Friday, May 4th – Monday, May 14th @ Hillside Shopping Centre

Most commonly, canned food is associated with food banks. However, this annual event and fundraiser takes canned food to a whole other level. Canstruction Victoria presents the theme “Around the World”, and will give you a chance to travel the world and see incredible structures made entirely out of cans. All proceeds will benefit the Mustard Seed. Rock for a Cause

Saturday, May 5th | 8:00 PM – 1:00 AM @ Braefoot Community Association

Rock out for a cause with music by High Voltage- playing all your favourite Bon Scott era AC/DC tunes, and DJ Moses.  All proceeds are being raised for Team Scigliano, who will be participating in The 2018 Victoria Brain Tumour Walk on May 27th. For more information, click here.

Victoria Hospice’s 7th Annual Hike for Hospice

Sunday, May 6th| 9:00 am @ Fisherman’s Wharf Park

A scenic 3.5km loop will take us from inner harbour to ocean and back again as we raise critical funds and awareness for Victoria Hospice. The route is accessible for all ages and abilities. 2018 Alex Campbell Conquer Cancer Classic

Monday, May 7th | 10:00 am – 9:30 pm @ Bear Mountain, Uplands and Gorge Vale Golf Clubs

In partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, BC & Yukon Division, help eradicate cancer and enhance the quality of life for people living with cancer on Vancouver Island by joining this popular and unique tournament format. To date, the tournament has raised over one million dollars since 1988! Dance Victoria’s “Draw for 2018 Spring Raffle”

Broadmead Care’s 15th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Thursday, May 10th | 11:30 am – 8:30 pm @ Royal Colwood Golf Club

This 15th annual tournament in support of the Veterans Memorial Lodge at Broadmead, helping to fund such important projects as the Overhead Lift Campaign, purchasing of beds and mattresses and most recently the Make Room Campaign in which $356,000 needs to be raised to help replace the aging furniture and curtains in each resident’s room. The Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History

Thousands of participants across Canada will unite at local community walk sites during CF awareness month to celebrate their fundraising efforts, while imagining a world without CF.Over 10,000 supporters, including volunteers, donors, partners and participants help support Cystic Fibrosis Canada’s mission; To end cystic fibrosis (CF). Power To Be’s “Power to Play”

Sunday, May 27th | 10:30 am – 2:00 pm @ Elk/Beaver Lake Park

 In support of Power To Be’s programs, this event aims to push racers outdoors and outside of their comfort zones. The race will challenge teams to run, climb and paddle through a 10 kilometres course, while relying on team communication and co-operation. Habitat for Humanity’s “ReFind Art 2018”

Tuesday, May 29th – June 10th @ The Bay Centre

Habitat for Humanity Victoria is excited to launch ReFind Art, an art auction and fundraiser at The Bay Centre from May 29th to June 10th, 2018, featuring the artworks of 31 local artists and businesses who are donating their time and talent in support of Habitat Victoria’s Build Program. ​ Each ReFind Art participant is challenged to create a piece of art using materials found at the Habitat Victoria ReStores, transforming used and discarded household items and building materials into beautiful works of art or up-cycled furniture.  For more information, click here.
